In Africa, farmers experience issues in insufficient market access, limited market information and late payments from intermediaries, while vendors – 80% of whom are women – rely on unreliable brokers and intermediaries who often inflate the price of the produce making it expensive for the final consumer.
Afrikamart addresses these challenges by leveraging on technology to offer a distribution platform for smallholder farmers and a digital purchasing center for vendors – retailers, hotels, and restaurants.
By doing that, it creates an efficient supply chain with less price risk, less food waste and more convenience for both farmers and vendors.
